Control Your Dog’s Itching and Allergies from Fleas

The #1 cause of itching is fleas. If your pet has excessive itching, it could be the result of an allergy to flea saliva or flea allergy dermatitis. Even if you do not see fleas on your pet, it only takes one flea bite to cause an allergic reaction. To help relieve your pet’s suffering, follow these simple steps:

Kill biting fleas on your pet
For immediate flea relief, we recommend giving your pet Capstar Flea Treatment Tablets, which begin working in 30 minutes. Capstar will kill more than 90% of adult fleas within four hours on dogs, and within six hours on cats. Do not be alarmed if your pet starts scratching immediately after giving the medication, as this is a result of the fleas dying. For additional relief, try a flea spray and use the Resco Pro Series Flea Comb to remove dead fleas.

Use flea & tick prevention
Use a flea preventative that repels fleas before they bite. Oral flea medications like NexGard and Trifexis take the mess out of flea prevention while also protecting against other parasites (see product label for details).

Treat your pet’s skin
In addition to itching and discomfort, some pets develop skin rashes and allergic dermatitis from fleas. Help soothe your pet’s skin allergies, redness, and hot spots with a topical spray or shampoo.
